Extended Observations

This little chair punched well above its price tag — it actually held up through purée season AND the cheerio-flinging toddler phase without falling apart or making me cry at cleanup time.

I'll be honest: I've bought and returned more highchairs than I care to admit. The full-size ones ate half my kitchen, the cheap clip-ons wobbled in a way that made my stomach drop, and I was starting to think I'd just hold my kid at the table forever. Then I tried this convertible portable highchair from smilebaby, and something actually clicked — both literally and figuratively.

The 5-point harness is the first thing I noticed out of the box, and it's the thing I keep coming back to. My daughter is a determined escape artist, and this harness doesn't negotiate with her. It's snug without being complicated to buckle one-handed while you're also trying to keep someone from launching themselves off the table. That alone earns serious points in my book.

The convertible design is genuinely useful, not just a marketing bullet point. We started using it as a sit-up support seat when she was still figuring out her core strength, and now that she's a full-on toddler, it works as a booster at the dining table. I didn't have to buy two products. For £41.82, getting that kind of longevity out of a single piece of gear feels like a win.

Cleaning is where a lot of baby gear goes to die in my house, but this one holds its own. The seat surface wipes down without much drama, and I haven't found any nightmare crevices that collect week-old sweet potato. That said, I do wish the padding were a touch more substantial — after a longer meal my daughter seems ready to get out, and I wonder if the cushioning could do a bit more work. Also, assembly instructions could be clearer; I figured it out, but it took one extra read-through than it should have.

Overall, this is one of the few baby purchases I haven't second-guessed. It's practical, it travels without being a production, and it's held up to real daily use. If you're in the market for something that bridges infant and toddler stages without costing a fortune or hogging your entire dining room, this one is genuinely worth a look.

Our Verdict

This little chair punched well above its price tag — it actually held up through purée season AND the cheerio-flinging toddler phase without falling apart or making me cry at cleanup time.
