Forty-two felt squares for four bucks — I'm not going to overthink it. The colors are honest, the cuts are clean, and it just works without a single instruction in sight.

TL;DR Summary

4.4/5 Great

Pros

  • Genuine color variety across all 42 sheets — no filler duplicates padding the count
  • Consistent 1mm thickness throughout the pack
  • Clean, fray-free edges when cut — no finishing required
  • Absurdly good value at $4.09 for 42 pieces
  • No setup, no instructions needed — grab a sheet, cut, done

Cons

  • 4x4 inch size limits usefulness for anything beyond small-scale craft work
  • Lightweight texture won't hold a rigid shape for structural applications
  • Individual sheet count per color is low, so you may run short on a favorite

Extended Observations

Forty-two felt squares for four bucks — I'm not going to overthink it. The colors are honest, the cuts are clean, and it just works without a single instruction in sight.

I'll be straight with you: felt fabric is about as far from my usual territory as you can get without leaving the continent. I spend my days with chisels and finish nailers, not craft squares. But my daughter needed felt for a school project, I needed something that wouldn't require a forty-five-minute Amazon research session, and this pack from flic-flac showed up at the door for $4.09. At that price, my expectations were calibrated accordingly — meaning, I expected it to be roughly felt-shaped and vaguely colorful. It cleared that bar and then some.

The 42-piece assorted pack gives you a genuinely useful spread of colors. Not forty-two shades of beige, not thirty-eight duplicates and four outliers — actual variety. My daughter could grab what she needed without digging through a pile of near-identical swatches. The 4x4 inch size is small, which is worth knowing upfront, but for small craft work, appliqués, or anything that doesn't require yardage, it's a sensible format. The 1mm thickness is consistent across the sheets I checked, which is more than I can say for some materials I've bought at ten times the price.

The nonwoven construction means these don't fray when you cut them, which is the single most useful thing felt does. You can take a pair of scissors to it and the edge stays put. No raveling, no mess, no need to finish the edges. For a carpenter who has watched plenty of fabric-based projects go sideways at the cutting stage, that's genuinely appreciated. It just behaves like it's supposed to, which is a low bar I am nonetheless happy to see cleared.

The minor complaints are real but minor. Four inches by four inches is not a lot of real estate, so if your project needs anything larger than a playing card, you'll need multiple sheets or a different product entirely. The texture is also on the softer, lighter side — this isn't dense craft felt that holds a rigid shape; it's more of a lightweight sheet. For decorative work or layering, that's fine. For anything structural, you'd want something heavier. Neither of these is a flaw so much as a description of what the product actually is.

For $4.09, this is a no-argument purchase if you need a variety of felt colors for small craft work. I didn't need a manual, I didn't need to calibrate anything, and nobody's wrist got sore. Sometimes a thing just does what it says it does, and you move on with your day. This is one of those things.

Our Verdict

Forty-two felt squares for four bucks — I'm not going to overthink it. The colors are honest, the cuts are clean, and it just works without a single instruction in sight.
